Comparative Tort Law Seminar Series Begins!
As Bilkent University Faculty of Law, we are pleased to announce the first session of the Comparative Tort Law Seminar Series, an event of international scope.
The opening lecture of our series will be delivered by Prof. Dr. Bénédict Winiger (University of Geneva), renowned for his research in Roman law, legal history, and tort law.
Prof. Winiger was a full professor at the University of Geneva, Faculty of Law. He specializes in Roman law, European Civil Law, Philosophy of Law as well as Tort Law. Throughout his career, he has been awarded several research grants by Swiss National Foundation. Between the years 2002 and 2011, Prof. Winiger co-directed with Prof. Koziol the research programs on “National Court Practice and European Tort Law”. He is the president of the Swiss Association for Philosophy of Law and Social Philosophy, a member of the European Center of Tort and Insurance Law, and a member of the European Group on Tort Law. Prof. Winiger has various publications in his fields of specialization, among which Droit privé Romain II (co-written with Prof. Dunand and Schmidlin) and La responsabilité aquilienne romaine: Damnum iniuria datum and Essential Cases on Damage.
