Brief History
Law Faculty which was established in 2002-2003 academic year within İ.D. Bilkent University which is the first foundation university in Turkey, commenced education with 140 students and produced its first graduates in 2006.
Law Faculty included in its curriculum, courses from other branches such as economy, finance, accounting and history since it was established. Courses related to Turkish Law are taught in Turkish. Additionally, international courses such as International Human Rights Law, Anglo-American Law, International Maritime Law, International Business Law, Arbitration Law, International World Trade Organization Law are being taught in English. Moreover, our faculty has been attending The Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot Court Competition on a regular basis and is the first Turkish Law Faculty which came back with an award from this competition.
Post-graduate education was first started in 2008 at our Faculty, with the Law and Economics Master Programme. This gradute programme continuing to date since 2008 which produced a vast number of graduates, was followed by the Ph.D. Programmes in Private and Public Law that started in 2011. LL.M. programs with thesis in Public and Private Law have commenced firstly in 2017.
As of today, our Faculty which contributed approximately thousand legal practitioners to the legal world as lawyers, judges, public prosecutors and academicians and which raised qualified lawyers who gained ground in national and international areas, in international organizations and law firms; is continuing its education journey with almost thousand undergraduate students.
