Bilkent University Faculty of Law ISTAC Moot Court team won first place award in the 4th Arbitration Practitioner of the Future Competition held virtually on 24-26 July 2020.

Coached by Mrs. Derya DURLU GÜRZUMAR, an attorney admitted to the Istanbul Bar Association (LLB '10, LLM '15), the Bilkent University Moot Court team comprised of senior year law students Duygu Gümüşcü, Nadide Kara, Ongun Özel, and Ahmet Yaşar.

The competition commenced in November 2019 with the drafting of two legal memoranda on behalf of Claimant and Respondent in a hypothetical legal dispute involving a distributorship agreement under the ISTAC Arbitration and Mediation Rules and Turkish law. The Bilkent ISTAC Moot Court team took part in the oral rounds of the competition via online hearings due to Covid-19.

With nearly 50 teams, hundreds of law school students participated in the Virtual ISTAC Hearings held on 24-26 July 2020. Bilkent University Faculty of Law is the only Turkish university to win the 1st place award twice and to be placed in the top 3 teams since the inauguration of this competition.
