⚖️ As Bilkent University Faculty of Law, we are pleased to host a new session of the Comparative Tort Law Seminar Series, bringing together leading scholars to discuss pressing issues in contemporary tort law.
📚This session will feature Prof. Dr. Pascal Pichonnaz (University of Fribourg), who will deliver a lecture on Civil Liability and Artificial Intelligence, addressing the complex liability frameworks arising from the increasing use of AI technologies.
🔎 Prof. Dr. Pascal Pichonnaz is a full professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Fribourg, where he has taught Swiss contract law, Roman law, European consumer law, and comparative contract law since 2000. He served as Dean of the Faculty of Law (2014–2017), is a co-founder of the LL.M. Programme (MLCBP), and has held several academic leadership roles. He has published numerous books and over 150 articles on Swiss and comparative contract law, including AI and the law, and is active as an international commercial arbitrator (ICC, Swiss Rules-SCAI, ad hoc) and sports arbitrator (CAS). He has also served as President of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) and, since 2018, as a member of the Council of the European Law Institute (ELI), where he was Vice-President (2019–2021) and President (2021–2025).
